The Extron MAV Plus 4848 AV matrix switchers are
designed to route composite video and stereo audio signals. Both 48x48 matrix
switchers feature 150 MHz (-3 dB) video bandwidth, fully loaded, backlit I/O
selection buttons, and Ethernet control technology.
Ethernet Control
The MAV Plus Series is equipped with an integrated, high performance Web
server that provides technical support personnel with the ability to receive
service and failure messages through an e-mail-enabled cell phone, PDA, pager,
or e-mail account. Utilizing Ethernet control, the help desk can also view
embedded Web pages to manage, monitor, and troubleshoot the switcher for the
following:
AV Resource Management
• Remotely select input and output ties for audio only, video only, or audio and
video
• Name and select global I/O presets
• Set audio input and output volume levels
• Upload firmware updates via the Internet
Operating Status and Diagnostics
• Monitor primary and redundant power supply voltages
• Monitor internal product operating temperature
• Recall firmware revision and other data for improved Help Desk support
• Obtain immediate notification via e-mail for power supply failure,
overheating, and other critical service information

•
Inputs: Video on female BNC connectors; audio on
captive screw connectors
• Outputs: Video on female BNC connectors; audio on captive screw connectors
• 150 MHz (-3 dB) video bandwidth, fully loaded — Ensures switching and
distribution of signals without degradation. The 150 MHz (-3 dB) rating is a
worst case specification; in other words, the MAV Plus Series matrix switcher
provides at least 150 MHz (-3 dB) at full performance capacity when one input
signal drives all outputs.
• Compatible with NTSC 3.58, NTSC 4.42, PAL, and SECAM video — Provides for
worldwide compatibility.
• Vertical interval switching — Enables smooth, seamless transitions when
switching between synchronous video sources.
• Enhanced QS-FPC™ - QuickSwitch Front Panel Controller — Provides a discrete,
backlit button for each input and output, allowing for simple, intuitive
operation.
• Tri-color, backlit buttons accept custom window labels — The backlit buttons
on the front panel of the MAV Plus matrix switchers can be custom-labeled for
easy identification. Buttons illuminate red, green, or amber, depending on
function, for ease-of-use in low-light environments.
• View I/O mode — Allows users to easily see which individual inputs and outputs
are actively connected. Available from the front panel, RS-232, or via Ethernet
control.
• Global presets — Frequently used I/O configurations may be saved and recalled
either from the QuickSwitch Front Panel Controller or RS-232 serial control.
This time-saving feature allows you to set up I/O configurations and store them
in memory for future use.
• I/O grouping — Allows the matrix switcher to be virtually divided into smaller
sub-switchers, making installation and control easier. I/O grouping allows
specific outputs, like those designated for a specific video format, to be
grouped together.
• Rooming — All models can be programmed to group selected outputs into specific
"rooms," each with its own set of unique presets. Each room can support up to 16
outputs. A total of 10 rooms, with 10 presets per room, are available.
• Switches both balanced and unbalanced stereo audio — Accepts both signals on
captive screw connectors.
• Audio input gain and attenuation — Allows users to set the level of audio gain
and attenuation for each input channel so that there are no noticeable volume
differences when switching between sources.
• Audio output volume adjustment and muting — Each individual output has volume
control adjustment via the front panel, RS-232 or Ethernet control. Audio output
levels can be set dynamically at different levels to feed the audio amplifier,
thus eliminating the need for a preamplifier in many system designs.
• Audio breakaway — Provides the capability to break an audio signal away from
its corresponding video signal, allowing the audio and video signals from one
source to be switched to different destinations.
• Ethernet monitoring and control — Engineered to meet the needs of professional
AV environments, Ethernet control enables the MAV Plus Series to be proactively
monitored and managed over a LAN, WAN, or the Internet, using standard TCP/IP
protocols. Ethernet cotnrol provides for remote selection of input and output
ties, adjustment and control of audio input and output levels, and advanced
system diagnostics.
• RS-232 and RS-422 control port — Using serial commands, the MAV Plus Series
can be controlled and configured via the included Windows-based control
software, or integrated into a control system. Extron products use the SIS™ -
Simple Instruction Set command protocol, a set of basic ASCII code commands that
allow for quick and easy programming. The RS-232 and RS-422 port also makes it
easy to install firmware updates.
• Control software — Provides a graphical, drag-and-drop interface for I/O
configuration and other customization functions via RS-232 and RS-422 remote
control. Also offers an emulation mode for configuration of an off-site matrix
switcher. The I/O configuration may be saved for future downloading to the
matrix switcher.
• Optional control panels and keypads — Provide the flexibility to control a MAV
Plus Series matrix switcher from a remote location.
• Front panel security lockout — If a MAV Plus matrix switcher is installed in
an unsecured environment where easy access is not desirable, a security lockout
feature may be implemented. During lockout mode, a special button combination is
required to operate the front panel.
• Rack-mountable metal enclosure — 13U, full rack width
• Highly reliable, energy-efficient internal universal power supply — The
100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz, international power supply provides worldwide power
compatibility with high demonstrated reliability.
• Redundant power supplies — Primary and back-up power supplies are internally
mounted. The power supply system is configured to automatically switch over to a
hot spare power supply if the primary power supply fails. This means no loss of
functionality in the event of a primary power supply malfunction. |
