As some may be aware, retail customer service standards in Singapore are nothing to shout about. While certainly not terrible for sure, I have never really experienced outstanding customer service in Singapore... until last Sunday!
The company in question is Expandore Electronics Pte Ltd, specializing in professional video, audio, lighting and broadcasting equipment. I purchased a couple of items from them last Friday, but realised I was short of 3 items which I
urgently needed before departing to Bangkok on Monday morning.
So I called up the General Manager, Steven Sng, on Sunday morning to ask him about the 3 items. He had them in stock, but their office was closed on Sunday. However, after I told him I
urgently needed the items for my Bangkok trip, guess what? He agreed to meet me at his office at 10:30pm on SUNDAY NIGHT to ensure I could purchase the items before my departure to Bangkok!
This photo was taken at 12 midnight, after having spent 1 1/2 hours selecting and testing the items to make sure they were working correctly. As a token of appreciation to his outstanding level of customer service, I handed him signed copies of my
books!
The plot continues... so we arrive in Bangkok for our training event, only to discover we needed a video mixer and a couple of video converters, stuff we didn't plan for when we were in
Singapore. Here comes Steven again to the rescue. He arranges for his Bangkok office to rush down to our venue with the requirement equipment, and helped set them up to ensure they worked correctly - all these within 2 hours of my request for
help!
These two incidents have completely restored my confidence that one can discover outstanding customer service in Singapore. And the likely reason why the most people don't think customer
service is good enough in Singapore is because Singaporeans tend to prefer to COMPLAIN and highlight bad customer service rather than COMPLIMENT and highlight outstanding customer service when
they occur.
So let's share more positive experiences and give credit whenever credit is due!

Just providing you with some feedback on my experience.
Do be honest with you, I was a little bit skeptical, doubtful and apprehensive about ordering an equipment of such value from overseas. There are/were many horror stories on the internet forums from buying equipments from overseas, especially from Asian countries.
However, after experiencing this purchase with you, I will not hesitate a second to go back to buy from you. I ordered my goods on Friday afternoon and I was expecting at least 1 week for the delivery. I received notification from you, telling me that it has been dispatched that afternoon. Monday, I got a call from FEDEX to clear the item from the customs by paying customs charge (which I was expecting and set aside money for). The next day, Tuesday, the item was delivered to me.
The customer service was thorough and good. The speed was exceptional. The price was cheaper than anywhere I could find. Above all, when the stock had run out in every other sellers due to Japanese Tsunami crisis, you had the items in stock.
Very happy customer who will return if my need to buy another camera/media gear arise again.
