Quality of Service in the Avid
Environment
We rigorously test Avid drives to guarantee throughput for all supported
configurations; no other local storage vendor does this kind of thorough testing
for any video environment, let alone the Avid environment. Avid employs
optimized drive and controller firmware to maximize performance. Match that with
strict design and inspection criteria and leading edge device and interface
technology, and the end results are Avid storage products that are unbeatable.
End-to-End Support for the
Entire Avid System
Using Avid Storage along with your Avid editing system gives you one stop
support and service, saving time and money and eliminating the time-consuming
finger pointing that happens when working with multiple vendors. Plus, Avid
provides first-class service features such as best in the business warranties,
customer-friendly storage utilities and diagnostics for straightforward setup
and use, and advance replacement on every Avid storage product at no additional
cost.
Unique Product Features
Avid direct-attach storage products are not run-of-the-mill drives found at your
local computer store. They are robust, quality products designed with the editor
in mind. Examples of unique features include patented QuietDriveT
sound dampening, the modular 'Rack and Stack' design of the MediaDrive line, and
exclusive Multi-Stream Technology (MST) that works with the VideoRAID's on-board
controller(s) to guarantee unconditional, uninterrupted multiple stream
real-time playback of uncompressed SD and HD video.
Strict Quality Standards
All Avid storage products meet stringent quality criteria. Initial device
qualification, firmware enhancement, and rigorous hardware testing in our
ISO9002-certified facility are just the start. Avid's Quality Assurance team
performs higher-level "torture tests" in Avid-specific environments and
reliability is verified through Process Maturity Testing (PMT) for extended
periods. Avid's thorough testing ensures that every Avid storage product offers
tried and true reliability.
During the qualification process - and as an
ongoing practice during manufacturing and integration - we reject many drives
that do not meet our quality criteria. Those sub-par drives go back into the
marketplace and are sold by other vendors, meaning all drives sold under the
same model number are not created equal!
Backwards Compatibility
Storage is an investment customers want to make use of for many years to come.
While the newest drives and the newest editors will always supply the most
optimal performance, we make every effort to maintain backwards compatibility by
qualifying previous generation drives on each new Avid editing system release as
well as qualifying every new capacity/new generation drive on older editing
systems. We also incorporate new generation drive mechanisms into older product
designs. |
